The NZMGA Assistant HeliSki guide qualification was introduced as a default end qualification for those in the NZMGA Ski Guide Pathway who had no desire to lead guide in the heliski industry, nor to undertake ski touring guiding. 

From 2020, this qualification became no longer available for new applications. Assistant Ski Guides at the time (having qualified before 2020) were able to change over to Assistant HeliSki Guide within five (5) years of achieving their Level 1 Ski qualification. Those NZMGA Members who qualified as Assistant HeliSki Guides will maintain their qualification in accordance with their continued NZMGA membership.
